Sicilian NQ: The Sicilian Restaurant That Won the Heart of the Northern Quarter

Carmen and Claudio, founders of Sicilian NQ, inside their authentic Sicilian restaurant in Manchester’s Northern Quarter

In the vibrant maze of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, known for its street art, indie cafés, and cultural fusion, a slice of Sicily has taken root. It’s called Sicilian NQ — and it’s not just a restaurant. It’s a story of tradition, identity, and love for a land far from the English rain.

🌿 A Sicilian Soul in the Heart of Manchester

Founded by Carmen, originally from Acitrezza, and Claudio, who brings the warm charisma of Sicilian hospitality, Sicilian NQ was born with one goal: to serve real Sicilian food in the most sincere way possible.

No fusion. No gimmicks. Just what nonna used to make.

From handcrafted arancini and vegan caponata, to homemade pistachio cream and cannoli that truly crunch, every dish is made with traditional ingredients, many of them imported directly from Sicily.

🍷 More Than a Menu: A Full Sicilian Experience

Dining at Sicilian NQ isn’t just about food. It’s about stepping into a story. Regulars know that if Claudio is around, you might be offered a glass of Marsala, limoncello, or a rare pistachio liqueur — all served with a smile and often a good story.

The restaurant also hosts Italian wine tasting dinners, bottomless wine experiences, and cocktail masterclasses in collaboration with Dirextra Wine & Cocktails School, all held within the restaurant itself.

🌟 Recognised by the Italian Government

In 2024, Sicilian NQ received the prestigious Marchio Ospitalità Italiana — the official Italian seal of quality for restaurants abroad that preserve and represent true Italian cuisine. This recognition is more than a certificate: it's a promise to every guest who steps through our door.

🌺 Why the Locals Love It

The Northern Quarter is a melting pot, and Sicilian NQ has become its Mediterranean heart. Mancunians come not only for the food, but for the feeling of being welcomed like family. Many guests return weekly. Some have celebrated birthdays, engagements, or anniversaries here. Some say they feel like they’ve been to Sicily without leaving Manchester.

🙌 A Message from Carmen

"This isn’t just our job. It’s our heritage. Every plate, every smile, every wine pour is our way of bringing Sicily closer to you. We didn’t come here to open a business. We came to tell a story — and Manchester listened."

Whether you’re Sicilian, British, or just someone who believes that food should come with heart and history, Sicilian NQis your table in the Northern Quarter.

Come hungry. Leave a little more Sicilian.
