Taste of Manchester Reviews Sicilian NQ: Pistachio, Seafood and Spritz Galore
Following Rhiannon’s visit on 7 August, Taste of Manchester has published a deliciously detailed review exploring the distinctive flavours and relaxed Sicilian atmosphere of Sicilian NQ.
“Pistachio, seafood and spritz galore.”
Taste of Manchester
We are delighted to share a new review of Sicilian NQ from Taste of Manchester, following Rhiannon’s visit to our Northern Quarter restaurant on 7 August.
The article captures some of the ingredients and experiences that make Sicilian dining so distinctive: pistachio, Mediterranean seafood, colourful spritz and the generous, relaxed hospitality of the island.
These are flavours that immediately transport us home. They reflect Sicily’s landscape, coastline and food culture, while giving Manchester diners an opportunity to experience something genuinely regional.
Pistachio from the slopes of Etna, seafood inspired by the Mediterranean and a spritz shared around the table — a little taste of Sicily in Manchester.
The Distinctive Flavours of Sicily
Sicilian cuisine is shaped by its surroundings. From the fertile volcanic landscape around Mount Etna to the fishing communities along the coast, the island’s ingredients tell the story of where they come from.
Pistachio is one of the flavours most closely associated with our cooking. Its richness and unmistakable character make it equally at home in savoury dishes, sauces and traditional Sicilian desserts.
Seafood is another essential part of the island’s culinary identity, reflecting Sicily’s deep connection with the Mediterranean and its long tradition of simple, ingredient-led cooking.
More Than Dinner: The Sicilian Aperitivo
The Taste of Manchester review also celebrates the spritz and social side of the Sicilian NQ experience.
In Sicily, food and drink are closely connected to conversation, friendship and time spent together. Aperitivo is not simply a drink before dinner; it is an invitation to slow down, share something delicious and enjoy the company around the table.
That relaxed spirit is an important part of what we aim to bring to Sicilian NQ, whether guests join us for a full meal, a celebration or cocktails and small plates.
A Taste of Sicily in Manchester’s Northern Quarter
Located in the heart of the Northern Quarter, Sicilian NQ is an independent restaurant rooted in the recipes, memories and hospitality of Sicily.
Coverage from a dedicated local food publication such as Taste of Manchester helps more people discover the regional identity behind our menu and supports our ambition to establish Sicilian NQ as a dining destination within the city.
We would like to thank Rhiannon and the Taste of Manchester team for visiting us and sharing the Sicilian NQ experience with their readers.
